Humanism

The main tenet of humanism is to place the dignity of the human being at the centre: every person should be able to express their opinion freely and make their decisions freely, without being punished by state authorities.   The social ideal of humanism is that every person can live out their best possible, free personal development, and thus humanism describes the pursuit of humanity.   An essential part of this path is extensive education. The origins of humanism lie in the Renaissance in the 14th century. While before that time, people were patronised by the state and the church, humanism was supposed to encourage people to educate themselves, to inform themselves, to formulate their own thoughts and to discuss them.   It is in this spirit that I run this site.
